Multiple members of the New York Jets brass are reportedly out on playing Aaron Rodgers this season after the results in Week 15. The Jets were eliminated from the playoff hunt on Sunday after the team was blown out 30-0 by the Miami Dolphins.
Rodgers has been attempting to make a a speedy recovery from his Achilles injury he suffered in Week 1. Rodgers aimed to return for the Jets contest against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Eve. However, Rodgers said his decision to play in Week 16 would depend on the Jets playoff chances.
Those hopes are over.
The New York Jets don’t want Rodgers to play again this season
Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network gave an inside look at how the Jets feel about Rodgers trying to return in Week 16. Rapoport said the Jets’ brass don’t want Rodgers to come back this season:
“I’ve talked to several very high-ranking members of the Jets organization who do not want Aaron Rodgers on the field unless they absolutely really have to,” Rapoport said.
“Right, like if there’s nothing to play for, which is right now, they’re not in the playoffs. They don’t want him on the field. They don’t want to risk 2024. They don’t want to risk a re-tear, none of that.”

The Jets and Rodgers need to focus on 2024. And 2024 will not be helped by Rodgers playing against the Commanders.
There is a good chance Rodgers would suffer more injuries behind the Jets offensive line. Backup quarterback Zach Wilson suffered a head injury Sunday against the Dolphins.
Why would Rodgers want that headache?
