As NFL training camp starts in about a month for all 32 teams. Let us take a look at all 22 former cougars who are on NFL rosters and what they did last year either in the NFL or in college.
Tyler Allgeier Atlanta Falcons RB
Playing for BYU from 2018-2021 after a breakout season in 2022 he was drafted in the 5th round of the draft. He played in all 13 games in 2021 rushing for 2,470 yards having 231 carries and scored 56 rushing touchdowns for the cougars. He will play his rookie season with the Falcons, starting training camp July 21st in Glendale, Arizona
Neil Pau’u Buffalo Bills WR
Neil played for BYU from 2017-2021 after that went undrafted in the 2022 draft and signed with the Bills. He played in 10 of 13 games in 2021 and had 46 receptions with 526 yards receiving averaging 11 yards per catch with 6 TDS. The Bills will start their camp on July 18th in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Brady Christensen Carolina Panthers OT
Brady played for the Cougars from 2017-2020. He was drafted in round 3 of the 2021 NFL draft by the Panthers. He played in 16 games in 2021 and started in 6 of those games. The Panthers start camp on July 26 in Rochester, New York.
Khyiris Tonga Chicago Bears DT
Khyiris played for BYU from 2017-2020 and got drafted by the Bears in round 7 of the 2021 draft. Khyiris played 15 games in 2021 started 2 had 24 total tackles 10 solo and 14 assisted. The Bears start camp on July 26 in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Sione Takitaki Cleveland Browns LB
Sione played for BYU from 2014-2018 the Browns drafted him at number 80 in the 2019 draft. He played in 15 games in 2021 started in 8 games and had 44 total tackles 20 solo and 23 assisted, with one forced fumble. The Browns start camp on July 26 in Berea, Ohio
James Empey Dallas Cowboys OC
James played for BYU from 2017-2021 and went undrafted in 2022 to the Cowboys after suffering an ankle injury his senior year that ended his year. He played in 7 games in 2021.
Jamaal Williams Detriot Lions RB
Jamaal played for BYU from 2012-2014 and then in 2016, after finishing his career at BYU he got drafted by the Packers in round 4 of the 2017 draft. He was then picked up by the Lions this past season he ran for 13 games and started in 11 games. He had 153 attempts rushed for 601 and had 3 TDS. The Lions start camp on July 26 in Allen Park, Michigan.
Samson Nacua Indianapolis Colts WR
Samson transferred from Utah in 2021 to play for BYU 2021. After playing one year for the cougars he went undrafted and was picked up by the Colts. In his final season at BYU, he played in 13 games and had 21 receptions for 329 yards with 3 TDS. The Colts start camp on July 23rd for the rookies in Westfield, Indiana.
Chris Wilcox Indianapolis Colts CB
Chris played for BYU from 2016-2020 playing 9 games in 2020 he got drafted in the 7th round of the 2021 draft by the Buccaneers. Following his short time with the Buccaneers, he went and sat on practice squads for a couple of teams before being picked up by the Colts. He played in one game against the Seahawks. The Colts start camp on July 26 for the veterans.
Ty’Son Williams Indianapolis Colts RB
Ty’Son played for BYU in 2019 and played in 4 games before getting hurt. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens. He played in 13 games started in 3 and had 35 attempts for 185 yards and 1 touchdown. After this season his contract ended and has now signed with the Colts joining 2 other former cougars. The Colts start camp on July 26 in Westfield, Indiana
Zayne Anderson Kansas City Chiefs FS
Zayne played for BYU from 2015-2020. After his time at BYU, he went undrafted and was picked up by the Chiefs. He played in 4 games with 1 tackle in 2021. The Chiefs start camp on July 26 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Matt Bushman Kansas City Chiefs TE
Matt played for BYU from 2017-2020. When he finished up his career at BYU he went and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. After playing in 2 games the Raiders let him go and then the Chiefs picked him up. He will play for the Chiefs in 2022 starting with training camp on July 26 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Michael Davis Los Angeles Chargers CB
Michael played for BYU from 2013-2016. After not being drafted he signed with the Chargers in 2017 and has played for the ever since. In 2021, he played in 14 games and started in all those. He had 54 tackles 37 solos and 12 assists with 3 interceptions for 86 yards and 1 TDS. The Chargers start camp on July 26 in Costa Mesa, California
Kyle Van Noy Los Angeles Chargers OLB
Kyle played for BYU from 2010-2013. He was drafted by the Lions in 2014 in round 2. He has played for the Lions from 2014-2016, the Patriots from 2016-2019, and then in 2021, the Dolphins in 2020, and now for the Chargers. In 2021, he played in 16 games starting in 8 having 66 total tackles 34 solos, and 24 assists. 5 sacks and 1 interception. Joining one other former cougar on the Chargers. The Chargers start camp on July 26 in Costa Mesa, California.
Harvey Langi New England Patriots ILB
Harvey played for BYU from 2014-2016. He was picked up by the Patriots in 2017. Harvey then went to the Jets for two seasons, after he was picked up by the patriots in 2021. He played in 7 games starting in one had 3 total tackles and 2 assists. The Patriots start camp on July 26 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Taysom Hill New Orleans Saints TE
Taysom played for BYU from 2012-2016. He was picked up by the Packers and played in the preseason for them. After that, he went to the Saints and played in positions. In 2021, he played QB for 12 games and started in 9, and had 134 attempts for 78 completions for 978 yards with 4 TDS and 5 interceptions. The Saints start camp on July 26 in Metairie, Louisiana.
Daniel Sorensen New Orleans Saints SS
Daniel played for BYU from 2008 and then from 2011-2013. He got picked up by the Chiefs in 2014 and played there until after 2021. In 2021, he played in 17 games starting in 7 having total tackles 38 solos 11 assists 1 sack 2 interceptions for 75 yards. The Saints have picked him up for the 2022 season joining former cougar QB Taysom Hill. The Saints start camp on July 26 in Metairie, Louisiana.
Kai Nacua New York Jets FS
Kai played for BYU from 2013-2016. He has played for the Browns in 2017, the 49ers in 2020, and 2021 finished out the 2021 season with the Jets. He played in 3 games with 4 total tackles 3 solos and 1 assist. The Jets camp starts on July 26 in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Zach Wilson New York Jets QB
Zach played for the Cougars from 2018-2020. After having a breakout 2020 season he was drafted by the Jets as number 2 in the 2021 NFL draft. In his rookie year, he played in 13 games starting in all 13 of those games. Zach threw for 383 attempts with 213 completions for 2334 yards with 9 TDS and 11 interceptions. The Jets camp starts on July 26 in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Fred Warner San Francisco 49ers LB
Fred played for the Cougars from 2014-2017. After his time playing lights-out football for the Cougars, he went in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft to the 49ers where he has played ever since. In 2021, he played 16 games and started in all those 16 games. Fred had 137 total tackles 71 solos and 58 assists, half a sack, and a forced fumble. The 49ers start camp on July 26 in Santa Clara, California.
Troy Warner Tampa Bay Buccaneers S
Troy played with his brother Fred for the Cougars from 2016-2020. When he finished up for BYU he went as an undrafted free agent to the Chargers now with the Buccaneers. He hasn’t played in any games in the NFL but is waiting for his time. The Buccaneers camp starts on July 26 in Tampa, Florida.
Dax Milne Washington Commanders WR
Dax played for BYU from 2018-2020. After having a great 2020 season catching passes from Zach Wilson, Dax went on to be drafted by the Commanders in round 7 of the 2021 NFL draft. In 2021, he played 13 games and started in 1 game. He had 9 receptions for 83 yards and zero touchdowns. The Commander’s camp starts on July 26 in Ashburn, Virginia
