The Chicago Bears have been urged to move on from head coach Matt Eberflus after the 2023 NFL season. He has struggled in his role as head coach many times and no one in Chicago believes he’s the kind of coach that can lead the Bears back to relevance in the NFC. If they were to fire Eberflus, fans and many in the Chicago media are hoping that the franchise would be able to hire Jim Harbaugh.
With all of the drama surrounding Harbaugh at Michigan, there is real belief that he would consider a return to the NFL. Returning to coach his former team would certainly be a great story.
While a return to the Bears would be a great story, the chances of that happening are seeming more and more slim.
Bears Chances To Hire Jim Harbaugh Took A Major Hit With New Report
According to a new report from Yahoo! Sports insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears’ chances of hiring Harbaugh have taken a major hit due to the legendary coach’s relationship with team president Kevin Warren.
“Kevin Warren was the president of the Big 10 when Harbaugh was getting his start at Michigan, they do not have a good relationship. Both guys have been critical of one another. That’s a fractured relationship that has no ability to be repaired.”
Missing out on a coach like Harbaugh due to a fractured relationship would be a brutal pill to swallow for the Bears. He would be a perfect coach for either Justin Fields or a young rookie quarterback. That is exactly the kind of coach that Chicago needs to find to rebuild into a contender.
There are plenty of other teams around the league that have been connected as possible destinations for Harbaugh. A few of the top potential landing spots are the Los Angels Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Carolina Panthers.
If the Bears want to have a chance to hire Harbaugh, they may want to begin working on trying to repair the relationship between Warren and Harbaugh. That will be a tall task, but one worth trying to figure out.
Harbaugh would be exactly the man for the job, but things may be too broken to be fixed.
