Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season is underway as the New England Patriots shocked the football world by defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, it was sportsbooks that won in the end, considering a large portion of the handle was on the Under last night. Now, bettors are licking their chops as they head into the Sunday slate.
Which spreads do bettors love in Week 14? Are these good spreads for bettors? Here are the five spreads bettors love most this weekend.
1. Miami Dolphins (-13)
The most popular spread bet this week is the Miami Dolphins. BetMGM has them as 13-point favorites. According to John Ewing, about 91% of the handle is on the Dolphins’ side of this spread.
When you look at this closely, it makes sense. They are playing a Tennessee Titans team that has left something to be desired this season. Plus, the Dolphins have the most total yards per game in the NFL. Bettors seem to believe that trend will continue against the Titans.
2. Denver Broncos (+3)
Believe it or not, an underdog is our second-most popular spread bet this week. BetMGM has about 89% of the handle on the Broncos’ side of this spread.
The Denver Broncos have done a remarkable job clawing their way back into the playoff picture. They started the 2023 NFL season just 1-5. Since then, they have gone 5-1.
Now, they are facing the Los Angeles Chargers, who are having a disappointing 5-7 season. On top of this, the Chargers are not known for having a great home field advantage at SoFi Stadium. Bettors seem to believe this will be a factor against the Broncos.
3. Green Bay Packers (-6.5)
The Green Bay Packers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They have won their last three games and currently have a 6-6 record. Bettors seem to believe they will keep this winning streak alive. About 84% of the handle is on the Packers’ side of this spread.
This week, they face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. The Giants are playing well themselves lately, having won their last two games. However, these wins came against subpar teams in the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5)
It is no surprise that the defending Super Bowl champions are a popular team to bet on. It feels like a rare occasion when the Kansas City Chiefs are small favorites. Bettors seem to think this spread is too small, as 82% of the handle is on the Chiefs.
They take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. The Bills are 6-6 and have had negative attention on them recently. The latest chapter involves Sean McDermott, and some people believe he is on the hot seat.
5. Cincinnati Bengals (-2)
Finally, we have the Cincinnati Bengals. This is arguably the line that has shifted the most this week. The Indianapolis Colts opened up as 2.5-point favorites. Now, the Bengals are 2-point favorites.
The handle is a big reason why this line has shifted so heavily. About 80% of the handle is on the Bengals. There are two big reasons why bettors are backing the Bengals.
First, the Bengals had an impressive upset on Monday Night Football last week. They were not expected to win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the opening line came out before that game started. Second, the Colts received some unfortunate news about RB Jonathan Taylor today. They will have to play without him for the second straight week.
