The Auburn Tigers now know who they will play in 2024 and when they will play them. Last week, the SEC released the schedules for each team in the conference.
The SEC will look slightly different in 2024 as the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners join the conference. The Tigers will get to face the Sooners for just the 3rd time ever in 2023. The Longhorns are not on the schedule in 2024.
The Tigers will begin the season with 3 non-conference games: against Alabama A&M, California, and New Mexico.

Now, let’s dive into our takeaways from this schedule reveal.
No LSU, Ole Miss, or Mississippi State
The last time the Tigers have not had LSU on their schedule was 1991. For Ole Miss, it’s the first season that these two won’t play since 1989. Finally, it’s the first time since 1955 that the Tigers won’t battle with Mississippi State.
It’s the beginning of a new era in the SEC, and the Tigers will undoubtedly gain new rivals. It will be a strange sight to not see these 3 opponents for sure.
The toughest stretch is in the first half of the schedule
Immediately after facing New Mexico at home on Sept. 14, the Tigers are thrust into SEC play. The team has back-to-back home games on Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 against Arkansas and Oklahoma. Then, the Tigers have to travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs the following week.
This is a brutal stretch that will tell us a lot about this team. If the team can go 2-1 over this 3-game streetch, you’d have to look at that as a major success. The Tigers were able to give Georgia a scare in 2023, but they will have to do it without their home crowd in 2024.
The schedule has a familiar ending
While the Tigers will not play against several rivals in 2024, one will indeed remain. On Nov. 30, to end the regular season, the Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl. One of college football’s most storied rivalry games will remain intact for now.
Before the Iron Bowl, the Tigers will have a tough home matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies. These last 2 games of the season will be tough tests, but getting the Aggies at home could make a difference.
Even when Auburn is done and Alabama is up, the Iron Bowl is usually a tough game. The Tigers will have a real chance to take down the Tide and end 2024 on a positive note next season.
