With the 2024 NFL draft being less than a month away it’s never too early to look to next year. With lots of players not declaring for the draft in 2024 just boosts how good the class will be in 2025. One question is who the first quarterback will be drafted in 2025, here are just a few candidates.
QB1 in 2025 NFL Draft
Carson Beck – Georgia
Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels got a lot of hype in 2023, but one quarterback that wasn’t getting talked about was Carson Beck. Carson sat behind Stetson Bennet in 2021 and 2022 and finally got his chance to start in 2023. Beck threw for over 3,900 yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and only six interceptions in the 2023 season. Beck was draft-eligible for 2024 but did not declare and is going back to Georgia for 2024. If he has another great season there is no reason, he should not be in the QB1 conversation.
Shedeur Sanders – Colorado
After getting the head coaching job at Colorado, Deion Sanders brought along his son Shedeur. In his first season at Colorado, Sanders threw for over 3,200 yards and 27 touchdowns. With all that, he only threw three interceptions which is a nine-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio. The thing that separates Shedeur from other quarterbacks is his mobility and playmaking. Sanders has decided to go back to Colorado for one more year and will enter the NFL Draft in 2025 and should be a contender for the first quarterback in the class.
Quinn Ewers – Texas
After the 2023 season, it seemed likely that Quinn Ewers was going to declare for the 2024 NFL draft. He was projected to be a fringe first-rounder in a stacked quarterback class, so he decided to return to Texas for the 2024 season. In 2023 Ewers threw for almost 3,500 yards along with 22 touchdowns and six picks.
There is a small chance that Ewers could struggle in 2024 as he lost his top three weapons and running back to the NFL draft which would hurt his draft stock for 2025. Either way, Ewers could potentially be the first quarterback selected in 2025.
Jalen Milroe – Alabama
Milroe had a very up-and-down season in 2023. He really struggled during the first couple of weeks but was able to turn it around towards the end of the season. He did not put up the best stats but played more of a Lamar Jackson playmaker. During the 2023 season, Jalen threw for over 2,800 yards and 23 touchdowns with only six interceptions. Milroe also rushed for over 500 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.
With the addition of Kalen DeBoer from Washinton, hopefully, he can make Milroe a Heisman contender and turn him into more of a complete prospect. If Milroe can have a great season in 2024 nothing is stopping him from being in the conversation for the first quarterback in the NFL Draft.
These are just a couple of examples of who could be the first quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL draft. If you are looking for more NFL draft content follow me on X @ChaseGrimm28, and if you are just looking for football content in general check out more from Gridiron Heroics.
