The Pittsburgh Steelers have made lots of changes to their team this offseason. There are now just 20 days until the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft. Here, we will see what the 2024 draft class for the Steelers could look like.
Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft 2.0
#20: Terrion Arnold CB – Alabama
With the offensive talent and off-season hype of Quinyon Mitchell, Terrion Arnold is being pushed down the board. Arnold is a very versatile defender who can do almost anything. The main knock on Arnold is his lack of top speed after running a 4.50 at the combine. There is a very good chance that Arnold would play the nickel corner role for the Pittsburgh Steelers that they have lacked since the departure of Mike Hilton. Arnold should be able to play anywhere in the secondary and would be a great pickup if he were to fall to the Steelers at 20.
#51: Xavier Legette WR – South Carolina
Legette is one of the most athletic receivers in the 2024 draft. He had a great showing at the combine where he measured in at 6’1, 220 pounds. and was still able to run a sub 4.40 40-yard dash. The reason that Legette is here at pick 51 is because of his lack of production. Xavier played five seasons at the University of South Carolina but only had one season of over 200 receiving yards. Either way, Legette is a big-body receiver who would slot into the Pittsburgh Steelers WR2 role while also being able to block in the run game.
#84: Sedrick Van Pran C – Georgia
Fortunately for Pittsburgh, Van Pran falls to them at pick 84 after passing on center in the first two rounds. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a huge need at center and Van Pran should be able to fill that. Van Pran also seems like he would fit right into the Steeler’s offense as he reunites with many of his former Georgia teammates.
#98: Jaden Hicks S – Washington State
The 2024 NFL draft is stacked with talent all over the board, but one of the positions that seems to be lacking is safety. Even though the class is still talented, there is not that top-tier talent that other positions have. There is a chance that Hicks is the first safety off the board but in this scenario, he is there at 98 for the Steelers to pick up. Adding Hicks adds depth and youth to the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary.
#119: Matt Goncalves OT – Pitt
Goncalves has a lot of starting experience entering the NFL draft. He is a versatile offensive lineman who can play on both sides and could even play some guard. Goncalves lacks lateral speed and doesn’t have a great track record facing speedy pass rushers which is why he is at pick 119. Goncalves should be able to develop and compete for a starting tackle spot on the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line in 2024.
#178: Curtis Jacobs LB – Penn State
Curtis Jacobs is exactly what the Steelers are lacking at linebacker. Even with the addition of Patrick Queen the Steelers still have little depth at LB. Jacobs is a linebacker who thrives in coverage and likes to get his hands on the football. He struggles with jumping routes and getting beat which is why he is available at pick 178. The Pittsburgh Steelers can add depth to their linebacking core with the addition of Jacobs.
#195: Jordan Jefferson DL – LSU
The Steelers have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL but also one of the oldest. Jordan Jefferson is a big defensive tackle that should be able to quickly rotate through the defensive line. Jeffersons strength is stopping the run and tackling, but he struggles to get to the quarterback. Adding Jefferson lets the Pittsburgh Steelers add some youth to their aging defensive line.
