The Washington Commanders are looking for hope and optimism in the immediate future. The 2024 season could provide a glimpse of it after they made wholesale changes this offseason. Washington has new ownership in place and they hope they can restore the glory days of the franchise.
The last time that the Washington Commanders won the NFC East was during the 2020 season when they were known as the Washington Football Team. They won the division with a 7-9 record that season.
If the Commanders are serious about taking strides this season, it will have to start during training camp. They are also going to have to win some games early on in the season.
If the Washington Commanders Were Featured On ‘Hard Knocks’ This Year One Of The Biggest Questions Would Be About the Head Coach-Quarterback Relationship
There have been many times on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd Show on FS1 about the importance of a relationship between the head coach and the quarterback. He feels like that is why the Kansas City Chiefs have been so successful with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.
The Washington Commanders need to make sure that head coach Dan Quinn and quarterback Jayden Daniels are on the same page from day one. The Yardbarker Staff created headlines for each NFC team if they were featured on ‘Hard Knocks.’
It would be interesting to see the Washington Commanders on that show. It may have even featured more drama during the Dan Snyder days. The Yardbarker staff wrote:
“Dan Quinn’s trophy quarterback
Quarterback Matt Ryan already had 181 touchdowns and 66 wins in his pocket when Quinn took the Atlanta Falcons in 2015, but now, the 53-year-old head coach gets 23-year-old Jayden Daniels, a former Heisman winner and No. 2 pick in this year’s draft. Quinn believes Daniels “has the hunger of a younger player” and also “the swagger and calmness of a veteran,” but how calm will the coach be if Daniels doesn’t know a blitz is coming?”
It will be important for quarterback Jayden Daniels to get going right away. It was a good move this offseason for head coach Dan Quinn to bring in Kliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator. Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator last season with the USC Trojans. He coached number one overall pick Caleb Williams who is now on the Chicago Bears.
Daniels must also get along with head coach Dan Quinn when things get tight for the Washington Commanders throughout the NFL season. Jayden Daniels needs to show during training camp and the regular season that he is primed to be the next franchise quarterback. They need stability in the position.
