The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enjoyed a surprising 2023 campaign after the team managed to make a surprising playoff run. Thanks to Baker Mayfield‘s QB play, the team’s post-Tom Brady rebuild is going faster than first anticipated.
With a long-term QB seemingly in place, the team is still far from the final article. They still need to find the right people to help them follow up on their impressive Super Bowl LV win.

Randy Gregory is one of the players the Bucs hoped would become a solid foundation for the team this season. The 32-year-old defensive end built a successful NFL career as a reliable defensive end who can also put in minutes at linebacker.
However, Gregory might not even start the season with the Bucs as he’s reportedly causing discord within the Bucs camp.
Preseason issues may see Randy Gregory out of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting lineup
JoeBucsFan.com is closely following the situation, and he believes that while Gregory is a capable player, they won’t likely put him ahead of Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. He believes the Bucs invested too much into Tryon-Shoyinka to not give him more reps at OLB.
However, that’s not the only thing that’s likely keeping him off the starting roster:
Joe has no idea why the Bucs brought in this Gregory. And after he blew off mandatory minicamp, the mystery only deepens. Why introduce this guy to an otherwise solid locker room? Did Jason Licht forget how a bad apple (Swaggy Baker) can fester?
Randy Gregory established himself as a reliable defender after an impressive 2021 season for the Dallas Cowboys. He made 15 solo tackles, 6.0 sacks, an interception that went for 12 yards, one pass deflection, and three forced fumbles.

However, he hasn’t reached those heights when he signed for the Denver Broncos. Even when he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers as LB depth last season, he only notched 10 solo tackles and 2.5 sacks as a rotation player.
With the underwhelming numbers and the attitude he’s displaying, it won’t be surprising if he gets cut before the season even begins.
