Rutgers football had another big recruiting weekend on the banks this weekend playing host to 12 young talents, four of which are already committed to play for the Knights.
Those who came on campus for their official visit this weekend who are already committed are wide receiver Sah’nye Degraffenreidt, offensive tackle Jayden Elijah, quarterback Sean Ashenfelder, and linebacker Isaiah Deloatch. Elijah and Degraffenreidt stand out as particularly interesting prospects because they are both from New Jersey, Rutgers’ home base, which has not given Rutgers a lot of commits this year. These two count for two out of five New Jersey commits so far in this recruiting class of 19 commits. Rutgers has almost the same amount of commits out of Florida as they do out of Jersey this year.
Diving deeper into the profiles of the four commits, Ashenfelder, who was the Knights’ first commit for the 2025 class, completed 167 passes for 1774 yards in his Junior season at Creekside High School in Florida. He also showed he can move, rushing for 591 yards. He was heavily recruited by Rutgers offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca.
Next up is Jayden Elijah, the six-foot-seven prospect out of Matawan New Jersey. He is ranked No. 47 at his position with his major drawback being his weight at 265 pounds. He will need to put on major weight to have a better shot at being a college starter.
Deloatch and Degraffenreidt both have excellent opportunities to compete for their positions as many current players on the team will be aging out by then with not many highly rated prospects coming in to replace them. Deloatch does have a talent for finding the ball carrier and Degraffenreidt shines at maximizing the amount of yards per catch having about 25 yards per reception.
This weekend’s recruiting commits

Last weekend’s recruiting bonanza was not followed up by more of the same this weekend, however, something like that would have been near-impossible to replicate two weeks in a row anyway. That does not mean that this weekend was completely silent for the Knights as they landed a Guard from Florida by the name of Gerrick Gordon.
The Ocala native currently sits at six foot three, 283 pounds, and is rated at No.38 for best guard in his class. One of the most important things to note however is that Gordan had offers from nine Power 4 programs but decided to commit to play for Rutgers after just one official visit. Gordon is the fourth offensive line commit in the class, the fourth commit from Florida in the class, and the only current commit in the class to list themselves as an interior offensive lineman.
The two best things about Gordon’s game is his use of leverage and his ability to block on the move. He consistently shows an ability to get underneath an opponent’s shoulder pads and drive them out of the hole while also being able to pull around the entire offensive line and seal any leakage the might come through on a run to the outside. He is arguably the best Rutgers offensive line recruit when it comes to getting to the second level of the defense.
Waiting On Who?
Out of all the recruits to visit this weekend Rutgers fans are eagerly awaiting to see if four star safety Tariq Hayer will commit to play for their school. Hayer is rated as a high four-star by 247Sports and he is rated as the 18th best safety in his class. Rutgers is in the mix for Hayer competing alongside Big Ten rivals Michigan State and Maryland to win the safety’s favor. If he agrees to play for Rutgers he will be tied for the highest-rated recruit in the class.
