There was a lot of promise for the Philadelphia Eagles last season until everything spiraled late in the NFL season. This is going to be a big season for Philadelphia and there will be a lot of questions to be answered if they do not perform this season.
It could be the end for a lot of people within the organization if the Philadelphia Eagles miss the playoffs in 2024. With the talent they have on paper, they should not miss the playoffs but crazier things have happened in the NFL.
It will be Super Bowl or bust this season for the Eagles. They will not be the only team in the division who is under pressure to perform this year. The Dallas Cowboys will also be under pressure this season.
Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report Has One Question About the Philadelphia Eagles’ Defense This NFL Season
Ryah Fowler of Bleacher Report wrote about each NFL team’s biggest question after OTAs and mandatory minicamps subsided. The question he has about the Philadelphia Eagles is the influx of talent at the cornerback position.
The Eagles had major problems in the defense late last season. Fowler said:
“After getting off to a 10-1 start last season, the Philadelphia Eagles collapsed, losing five of their final six regular-season games. They gave up 250-plus passing yards in three of those five losses, along with their blowout defeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Wild Card Weekend.
The Eagles looked to shore up their secondary this offseason by reuniting with C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency and spending early-round picks onToledo’s Quinyon Mitchell and Iowa’s Cooper DeJean.
While veterans Darius Slay and James Bradberry remain in Philly for now, Mitchell’s elite athletic profile, ball skills and pure man-coverage ability should help him earn a starting job right away. DeJean’s hybrid skill set should allow new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to remain creative with his personnel on the back end.
Both corners figure to play substantial roles this fall as the Eagles attempt to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the fourth straight year.”
Darius Slay and rookie Quinyon Mitchell are projected to be the starting cornerbacks for the Philadelphia Eagles this season. James Bradberry is second on the depth chart and it is possible that the Eagles could trade him before the start of the 2024 season.
Cooper DeJean is projected to be one of the backup safeties on the roster. However, the Philadelphia Eagles needed to draft secondary help and hopefully, the rookies can help them out sooner rather than later.
