Madden is the videogame franchise that defines the NFL. Every year, there is a lot of anticipation as to which player will represent the NFL on the cover. Now, the Madden 25 cover athlete has been revealed. Read below to find out who it is.
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey Named Next Madden Cover Athlete

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has been named the next Madden cover athlete. It is the first time in 13 years that a running back has been chosen as the cover athlete. The last time this happened was when Peyton Hillis was selected as the cover athlete for the Madden 12 edition.
Despite this long stretch, it is not a complete shock that McCaffrey was chosen. One of our own writers on Gridiron Heroics predicted that McCaffrey would end up on the cover.
Recent Accomplishments for Christian McCaffrey

Right now, McCaffrey is arguably the best running back in the NFL. Last season, he was on the shortlist for NFL MVP. However, he has been recognized as such outside of NFL MVP votes.
For starters, McCaffrey was recently given a lucrative contract extension. This extension was worth about $19 million annually for two additional years on his contract.
Being awarded the Madden cover is an accomplishment in itself. That is because McCaffrey is essentially representing all NFL players by being the face of the league this season.
Christian McCaffrey’s Career

McCaffrey has certainly had a notable NFL career. It is likely a career that will put him on the path to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So, what has he done over the last seven years?
For starters, he had 6,185 rushing yards and 52 rushing touchdowns. If that was not enough, McCaffrey has notable reception numbers as well. He has 4,320 receiving yards and 29 touchdown receptions.
Last season, McCaffrey helped lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl LVIII appearance. Unfortunately, the 49ers fell short in overtime against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, you can argue McCaffrey’s partnership with San Francisco has worked out perfectly outside that final game.
McCaffrey spent his first five seasons with the Carolina Panthers after being drafted by the team in 2017. However, the Panthers were going through a rough stretch in 2022. As a result, he was traded to the 49ers in the middle of the season, and it has been great for both McCaffrey and the 49ers ever since.
