Many football fans accused the elite quarterback Josh Allen of having a role in the Buffalo Bills trading Stefon Diggs away this offseason to the Houston Texans. Diggs has clearly made a huge impact on Allen both on and off the field, as Allen’s numbers rose drastically after the team was able to get him a few seasons ago.
Stefon Diggs has not really shown any true signs of decline, so many fans were theorizing that Allen had a role in the trade that sent his top star away. Not only did they trade their top receiver, but they traded him to another legitimate contender in the AFC.
Josh Allen revealed that he had nothing to do with the team deciding to trade him, and was very candid about his love of Diggs and how he will always “have a place in Allen’s heart.”
Josh Allen Says ‘I Will Always Love’ Stefon Diggs
Josh Allen had his a press conference on Thursday in which he addressed the team’s offseason moves, the most notable being the Diggs trade. Allen was clear that Diggs will always have “a spot in my heart” and that Allen will “always love him like a brother.
He said he had nothing to do with the trade and that these types of things of just part of the business that is the NFL.
“I guess that’s the nature of the business,” Allen said, via the team’s social media account. “And going into Year 7 now, it just kind of is what it is. I don’t get paid to make changes on the team, I get paid to be the best quarterback that I can be and try to lead the guys on this team.”
“Yeah, I shared a text with him and got one back, just thanking him for everything that he did for me,” Allen said. “I’ll always have a spot in my heart for him and I’ll always love him like a brother and wish him nothing but the best.”
Josh Allen asked what he learned about managing relationships after the last four years with Stefon Diggs.

Josh Allen Is Looking Forward To The New Look Buffalo Bills Offense
Allen had many glowing compliments for his former receiver and he highlighted that his own numbers were incredible when Diggs was on the field. However, he is looking to the future and he’s focused on the players they have in the locker room.
Now that Diggs is not in the building, many of their players will have the opportunity for much bigger roles, we will have to see if they are ready for that.
“You look at the statistics, they don’t lie — numbers don’t lie,” Allen said of Diggs. “But like I said a few minutes ago, it’s an opportunity for those guys we have in our room, bringing in guys like Curtis [Samuel] and Mack [Hollins] and having Khalil [Shakir] and Dalton [Kincaid] and Dawson [Knox] — guys who have been in the system for a while that know how things go. And within the system, anybody can get the ball at any given time.
“These guys are very excited for that. They’re working extremely hard. It’s good to see those guys here and getting to know some of these younger guys better. And looking forward to getting to know them as best as I can so we can use that on the field.”
When Allen was asked about his lasting memory of Diggs, Allen said that he is only the quarterback he is today because of Diggs.
“My lasting memory of Stef will be the receiver that helped me become the quarterback that I am today,” Allen said. “And I’ll always thank him for that.”
If Allen truly does believe all of this, it is interesting that he did not push harder for the team to keep the receiver in Buffalo. While Allen is clearly saying all the right things, that does not mean that he may have felt it was time to part ways.
The Bills will have a very different look this year, and we will se if Allen can make it all work without his top guy.
