The NFL certainly likes to test the limits of their schedule. Whether that comes from adding a 17th game, playing on Black Friday, or even playing on a Friday in Week 1, the NFL continues to find new days to play football. Well, the league seems to be testing these limits again next year. Find out which day they are going to play now.
NFL Set to Play Wednesday Christmas Game
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the NFL will once again have at least one game on Christmas Day. During most seasons, this would not be a big surprise. However, there is a twist that comes with Christmas in 2024.
The twist is that Christmas falls on a Wednesday this year. As a result, the NFL adds yet another day of the week that they will play football this year.
Christmas Ratings
Ratings are likely a big reason why the league elected to schedule a game on Christmas Day regardless of the day of the week. Last year, these games averaged 27 million viewers. That is almost eight times the number of viewers that an NBA game on Christmas Day game gets. It appears that the NFL does not want to give that up easily.
