The New York Jets have an important season coming up. That is because all of the optimism Jets fans had going into the 2023 season quickly deflated when QB Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles just four snaps into the season.
As a result, Jets fans have not seen the potential ceiling they have with Rodgers to succeed. However, Rodgers seems confident that the Jets will put on a show in 2024. He backed this up with a strong quote. Read below to find out what he said.
Aaron Rodgers Calls New York Jets “Must-Watch TV” in 2024
Earlier this morning, Aaron Rodgers was interviewed on The Long Beach Joe Show. During that interview, Rodgers was asked what his reaction was after seeing what the Jets’ 2024 schedule looked like. Rodgers answered this question by calling the Jets “must-watch TV” next season:
“We are must-watch TV and that’s pretty obvious. Everyone knows that. Whether you love or hate me, people want to see me play. They enjoy watching me play.” -Aaron Rodgers
New York Jets Have Most Primetime Games in 2024
It is obvious that the NFL seems to agree with Rodgers’ statement. That is because the league scheduled six primetime games for the New York Jets in 2024. If that sounds like a lot, that is because it is. The Jets are tied with the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers for the most primetime games in the NFL next season.
The Jets were scheduled to have five primetime games in 2023 along with the first Black Friday game in NFL history. It is safe to say the NFL expected Rodgers’ presence to bring the Jets bigger ratings as far back as last season. Now, it appears the NFL is ready to try again in 2024.
Small But Successful Sample Size
Admittedly, the NFL does not have a large sample size to work with when it comes to Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. He played just one game during the 2023 season. However, it was the opening game on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
While it was just one game, it ended up bringing in the most viewers ever for a Monday Night Football broadcast at that time. However, this record was broken later in the season by the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles taking part in a Super Bowl LVII rematch on Monday Night Football. Still, if that game is any indication, Jets games on primetime should shine in the ratings. The Jets will have at least six opportunities to prove this is the case in the upcoming season.
