The New York Giants are facing a lot of pressure heading into the 2024 season. This is the third year for both head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen with the organization. It is also the second year since these men gave QB Daniel Jones a massive contract extension that adds up to $40 million annually.
However, the Giants finished just 6-11 in 2023. So, if New York has six wins or fewer in the 2024 NFL season, all of these men will likely be replaced. In that situation, Bill Belichick and Dak Prescott could fit in perfectly.
Why Bill Belichick Works

Some people may be questioning the idea of the Giants bringing in Bill Belichick. This is especially the case when Belichick did not find another job for the 2024 NFL season. However, if we are playing devil’s advocate, it could be because the timing was not right.
You see, it has only been two years since Daboll and Schoen joined the Giants. It also would have been tough to justify firing both men after just two seasons. This is especially the case when looking at the most recent history at the head coach position.
Daboll is the first Giants head coach since Tom Coughlin to last more than two seasons as the team’s head coach. However, there has been conflict among the Giants’ coaching staff. Considering former DC Wink Martindale now parted ways with the Giants, Daboll has to make sure he does not have conflict again.
Plus, GM Joe Schoen can be seen as a package deal with Daboll. Belichick has experience as a GM as well. The offensive line is still a huge problem for the Giants. They allowed the most sacks in the NFL last season.
On top of this, the Giants need a significant wide receiver. If Jalin Hyatt and Malik Nabers do not show signs of progress by the end of 2024, this will reflect poorly on Schoen, especially after giving QB Daniel Jones that lucrative contract.
If this was not enough, Belichick has a long history with the New York Giants. He started off as the special teams coordinator in 1979. However, he was the defensive coordinator by the time the Giants won two Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990.
Why Dak Prescott Works

Unlike Bill Belichick, Dak Prescott has no history with the New York Giants. So, why does he make so much sense for this organization? To be clear, this only works if it is clear Daniel Jones is not the long-term answer by the end of 2024.
If he has another bad season in this scenario, this gives the Giants the option to opt out of Jones’ contract. While New York may elect to draft a quarterback in this scenario, it is possible they may not be in the best position to get their first choice.
The Giants are used to having stability at the quarterback position. Eli Manning was drafted by the Giants in 2004 and he was the full-time starter from 2005 through the beginning of 2019. Unfortunately, Daniel Jones has not carried this torch consistently for the Giants.
Dak Prescott is facing a contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys. He is a free agent after this season and cannot have the franchise tag placed on him. Yet, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has admitted a contract extension is unlikely before the 2024 season kicks off.
Part of this is because of the current market for quarterbacks. Jared Goff recently received a contract extension worth $53 million annually. Because of this, some NFL Insiders believe Prescott can be the first quarterback to make around $60 million annually.
New York Giants Moving Forward

So, what will the Giants really do after 2024? A lot of this depends on how successful the team is on the field.
If the Giants return to 2022 form, none of the above has a chance of happening. However, if the Giants’ record is even worse than last season, there are going to be questions surrounding this franchise.
That will likely make people start looking at leadership and clean players. So, do not be surprised if the Giants clean house if the team plays poorly again.
New York has a prior history of being a stable organization. What more can they ask for than a successful veteran quarterback and arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history?
