The New York Giants will have the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday night and a lot is going to happen. They are going to take the wait-and-see approach in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Giants are going to find themselves with a very good football player in that spot.
One of the biggest questions is what kind of decisions general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll decide to make. Will they try to find Daniel Jones’s replacement or will they bulk up the wide receiver room? Who are some of the names that the New York Giants will wind up with when the night comes to an end?
The New York Giants Would Love To Have Quarterback Drake Maye From North Carolina
Brian Daboll is looking for his next franchise quarterback. When Schoen was the assistant general manager with the Buffalo Bills, they traded up for Josh Allen. They are looking for there Josh Allen and Drake Maye fits that mold for the New York Giants.
Maye has a much higher ceiling if the Giants were to draft him. This is the only quarterback that they have their eyes on at this point. They may even try to trade up from the sixth pick to the third pick with the New England Patriots in order to draft him.
Wide Receiver Malik Nabers From LSU
Nabers will most likely be available at six because the Arizona Cardinals will most likely take wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick. If the New York Giants do take Malik Nabers, the comparisons of Nabers to Odell Beckham Jr. will hit like crazy. Beckham Jr. was a first-round pick by the Giants in 2014 from LSU.
The Tigers are a wide receiver university and they usually have good wide receivers coming into the NFL. Nabers would be the number one wide receiver in the Giants organization right away.
Wide Receiver Rome Odunze From Washington
There is a chance that Maye, Nabers, and Harrison Jr. will be gone by the time the New York Giants are selected sixth overall. They do not want to draft quarterback J.J. McCarthy so they would rather take the next best wide receiver available in this situation with Rome Odunze.
Odunze is a wide receiver who helped the Washington Huskies to the National Championship Game last season. He was also the number one wide receiver option for quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Rome Odunze would not be a fit for the New York Giants with the sixth overall pick because of how good he is at catching footballs in traffic.
