The Miami Dolphins have a big decision for the future of their franchise coming up, and that is how much are they going to pay their franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. While it appeared that the Dolphins quarterback was going to sign a contract this off season to secure his future with the team, now that seems less likely to happen ahead of the 2024 season.
It was speculated that Tua would hold out to get the contract that he deserves, but now Tua put those rumors to bed.
Tua Tagovailoa Will Not Hold Out For 2024
Tua Tagovailoa offically announced that he has no plans at all to hold out for a new contract this offseason. He is going to come to training camp and OTAs this spring as he usually would. Tagovailoa told Adam Beasley that he plans to attend voluntary practices this spring.
After he wil attend the mini camp and be full steam ahead just like any other year. Both the quarterback and the Miami Dolphins seem to be in great talks to get a deal done.
Tua and the team are expected to get an extension done in the near future and it still may even be before the start of next year. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported in March that the Dolphins are “dedicated” to signing Tagovailoa on a long term deal to make him the franchise quarterback.
Miami Dolphins Reportedly Adding More Help For Tua Tagovailoa
While Tua has been blessed with arguably the best wide receiver combination in the game of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, it has been reported by none other than Hill himself that even more help is on the way. Hill took to snapchat to say that Odell Beckham Jr. is going to be a Dolphin next year.
Whether or not they add more talent, this will be a very important year for Tua for his career and legacy. He has now proven that he can stay healthy over the course of a season, and when he does he puts up some of the best numbers in the NFL with one of the scariest offenses.
However, he has yet to prove that he can do literally anything in the playoffs. This will be the year that will show whether or not Tua can lead a team deep into the post season. The door is open for them to become one of the real contenders in the AFC, and all of that will depend on the left arm of Tua.
