The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly interested in a former first round pick in the NFL Draft that ended up being quite a bust at corner back. According to ML Football, the Cowboys are bringing in Deandre Baker for a workout after his very solid year in the UFL playing for the D.C Defenders. Baker was a former first round pick that had a lot of hype but quickly fizzled out. Now he will get another chance.

While Baker is set to workout for the team who lost some of their corner back depth from this past season, he was, at one points, a highly graded draft prospect heading in to his career in the NFL. Baker was taken in the first round No. 30 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, by the New York Giants.
Baker was an incredible college talent at Georgia where he had an All American career in college. However, he ended up getting released by the Giants just a year into his career after being charged with armed robbery in 2020. That arrest was the beginning of Baker’s woes as he started his career.
The charges were later dropped but that damage had been done and he had already been cut by the team that drafted him. Baker did get picked up by the Chiefs which was an incredible opportunity for him as the Chiefs have since won two Super Bowls and played in three since picking Baker up. However, his troubled continues when he suffered a season ending leg injury with the Chiefs and was cut after just 10 games.
Baker is just 26 year old and has already experienced a lot in his short career playing football. The young corner could add depth to the Cowboys secondary which is exactly what they need, and Baker showed he still has a lot of his skills while playing in the UFL.
The former Georgia Bulldog made the All-UFL team this past season and is trying to continue to make the most of his second chance. It would be a great comeback story to see Baker get back to the NFL, and it seems that the Cowboys have very real interest in bringing the UFL star in.
We will see if Baker can accomplish his potential if he gets another chance with the Cowboys.
