Will Levis attends the 26th Manning Pass Academy being hosted in Thibodaux, LA. It started on Thursday, June 23rd and will run through the weekend. The Pass Academy is hosted and coordinated by the Manning Family themselves. If you’re a quarterback looking to add more to your game…. Why not learn from the best to ever play the game?
The Academy welcomes colleges top starting quarterbacks, running backs, tightends and receivers. The Academy focuses on the fundamentals of each position as well as basic defensive and offensives strategies.
Friday night events showcased an “Air It Out” competition between a loaded group of college counselors. The quarterbacks threw 10-yard hooks, 18-yard comebacks, 18-yard digs and a deep ball to receivers. A scored portion of the event was a target competition. This is where the quarterback throws at moving golf carts, two crossing routes and a vertical throw down the sideline. Personnel directors from the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game were hand to evaluate the draft-eligible quarterbacks.
What stood out about Levis?
Will Levis not only stood out due to his size, 6 foot-3 inches, 230-pound build. “The ball jumps out of Levis’ hand. He shows the best combination of quick release and velocity of all the quarterbacks on Friday. He can access the entire field with his arm strength, not straining to drive the ball beyond 60 yards.” Landing Levis in the top 6 finalists in the competition among Anthony Richardson-Florida, Ty Thompson-Oregon, Max Johnson-Texas A&M, Clayton Tune-Houston, and Liam Thompson-Wabash College. Clayton Tune-Houston ended up taking the top spot.
They weren’t the only ones throwing Friday night others also participated: Bryce Young-Alabama (Heisman Trophy Winner), Kedon Slovis-Pitt, Cameron Rising-Utah, Brennan Armstrong-Virginia, Myles Brennan-LSU, and Tyler Van Dyke-Miami and several others.
This no doubt will add fuel to the hype train that has been surrounding Will Levis. Lately he has been an early candidate for a shot at the Heisman this year. I just hope along with Big Blue Nation that it all translates to actual game play and that we truly see a spectacular year.
Camp Sessions are not over for Will Levis however. His next stop will be July 23rd, Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. That’s right! Over a dozen of the Kentucky Teammates along with Levis to attend the Chris Oats Football Skills Camp. The camp is named after #22 Chris Oats, who suffered a stroke in 2020.
