One reason for the Wolverines fanbase to be excited for the 2025 college football season is because of freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood. He was the number one recruit in the class of 2025. Underwood was originally committed to the LSU Tigers, but he decided to not go there and stay in his home state instead. Will Underwood start as a freshman for Michigan in 2025?
Michigan Wolverines Insider Talks About the Chances Freshman Quarterback Bryce Underwood Starts In 2025
Chris Balas, a senior editor for thewolverine.com talked to Andy Staples on on3.com on the latest podcast about if Underwood could potentially start as a freshman in 2025. Balas said,
“Bryce Underwood, from practice one to practice 15 and what he brings to the table in terms of physical skills, is like nothing we’ve ever seen here before.”
It will be interesting to see if Sherrone Moore decides to start the freshman quarterback Week 1 against the New Mexico Lobos. According to ourlads.com, they have Underwood as the starting quarterback for Michigan and Mikey Keene listed as the backup quarterback.
There is a chance that Underwood could be named the starting quarterback for the Wolverines a month before the 2025 college football season begins. If named the starting quarterback, Michigan is going to have to be patient with him because it is rare for true freshman to be starting at the college level.

Underwood will no doubt have his ups and down as a starting quarterback potentially during his freshman season with Michigan. However, the Wolverines would probably start him not only because of his upside, but also, he is probably the best quarterback on the roster as well.
