The West Virginia Mountaineers’ pass rush aims for a better outcome in 2025 after tying for the 28th-fewest sacks and losing their top two leading sackers in 2024. TJ Jackson II signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, while Sean Martin went undrafted and remains unsigned. West Virginia has made it a priority to improve their EDGE depth during the transfer portal.
The West Virginia Mountaineers added a veteran pass rusher in December
West Virginia landed former UTSA Roadrunners standout EDGE rusher Jimmori Robinson from the winter transfer portal. Robinson spent the last four years at UTSA, recording 110 tackles, 30 TFLs, 15 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He had a breakout 2024 campaign, recording 43 tackles, 17 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles, which earned him a First-Team All-AAC selection and Defensive Player of the Year.
The Mountaineers aren’t done adding talent to the position.

According to Pete Nakos, West Virginia landed a commitment from former Incarnate Word standout EDGE rusher Devin Grant from the spring transfer portal for the 2025 season. Grant has one final year of college eligibility remaining. He was considered one of the top pass rushers available in the portal.

Here’s a quick review of his college career
After spending the first three years of his college career with the Colorado Buffaloes, Devin Grant committed to the Incarnate Word Cardinals for the 2023 season. Grant had a solid stint with Incarnate Word, recording 44 tackles, 16.5 TFLs, ten sacks, and two forced fumbles. He had a breakout 2024 campaign, recording 31 tackles, 11 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, and one forced fumble, earning him a Second-Team SLC selection.
He entered the transfer portal after the spring portal had opened.
