Washington Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn Provides Update On Running Back Austin Ekeler Entering Week 4
In Week 3 against the Bengals, Ekeler left the game in the third quarter and was taken back to the locker room and he did not return to game action. The Commanders reported that he was out for the game and was being evaluated for a concussion.
On Tuesday, head coach Dan Quinn talked to reporters to discuss what is going on with Austin Ekeler. He said:
“Yeah, Austin had a concussion and also a laceration on his ear. So, he went back to Virginia today to begin the concussion protocol. I’ll have more info as it goes toward the end of the week. Instead of coming out here to Arizona, he went back home to Virginia to begin that process.”
This is not a good sign for Ekeler in Week 4 against the Cardinals. The team went to Arizona right after the game on Monday night. It will be interesting to see if Ekeler will be out for a week or potentially longer with this injury.
Washington is 2-1 on the season and Arizona is 1-2 on the season. This is a big game in Week 4 for both teams.
Potential Running Backs
With the Commanders potentially not having Austin Ekeler this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals, Brian Robinson Jr. will most likely be the starting running back for Washington. He has been splitting carries with Ekeler this season.
Jeremy McNichols will most likely be the backup running back this week for Washington. They will either elevate running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. or Michael Wiley from the practice squad if the former Los Angeles Chargers running back is inactive on Sunday.
