The Washington Commanders go into the 2023 season betting on their young quarterback. Sam Howell seems to have the starting job locked up and there is a lot of talent around him. Terry McLaurin is a criminally underrated wide receiver and the running back crew has also shown some good promise. However, the team is “quietly” inquiring about Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt.
Washington Commanders Inquiring About Kareem Hunt
Hunt is one of the many running backs that are looking for a change of scenery. While the Commanders already have a couple of good backs, depth at the position is never a bad thing to have. Injuries happen and different backs have different skill sets depending on the down and distance. Hunt has shown in his time in the league that he is a great pass-catching back. He would add a new element to the team that would hopefully help the offense.
Reuniting With Eric Bieniemy
Hunt made a name for himself in Kansas City under Bieniemy. It doesn’t come as a shock that the new offensive coordinator would give Hunt a look. This is one of the most fascinating storylines in 2023. Now that Bieniemy does not have Patrick Mahomes, will he be able to field a top offense? The NFC East is the lone division in the NFC that has four quality teams so the Commanders will definitely need to score some points. If Bieniemy can make it work with Howell, it will show how savvy of an offensive mind he is.
Will the Washington Commanders actually end up signing Kareem Hunt? It remains to be seen but he would definitely add another element to an already potent offense.
