The Washington Commanders’ rushing numbers in 2024 were skewed despite finishing third in rushing yards. That high ranking was due to Jayden Daniels leading the team in rushing with 891 yards, while no running back rushed for more than 800 yards. In fact, the Commanders’ leading running back finished 25th among all backs in 2024.
Washington Commanders lead back’s great start to 2024 was marred by injuries

Brian Robinson Jr. had a great start to the 2024 season, rushing for 307 yards on 66 carries with an impressive 4.7 yards per attempt and three touchdowns over the first four games. At that pace, he would have finished with 1,305 yards on 281 carries and 13 touchdowns in 17 games, which would have ranked seventh in rushing. Unfortunately, he was not the same player after suffering two injuries.

Robinson popped up on Week 5’s injury report with a knee injury, which limited his reps that week and caused him to miss Week 6. He then suffered a hamstring injury in Week 8, causing him to miss Weeks 9-10. From Week 5 to the rest of the season, Robinson rushed for 492 yards on 121 carries with 4.1 yards per attempt and five touchdowns, equating to 799 yards on 187 carries with 4.3 yards per attempt and eight touchdowns in 14 regular-season games, plus 129 yards on 36 carries with 3.6 yards per attempt and two touchdowns in three postseason games.
Washington Commanders sleeper facing pivotal 2025 campaign

Brian Robinson Jr. faces a pivotal 2025 campaign as he enters the final year of his rookie deal and is set to hit free agency next offseason. If all goes well, he could secure a long-term contract extension or sign elsewhere for a decent amount. So far, Kliff Kingsbury has liked what he’s seen from Robinson in practice and says he is dialed in for 2025.
“Yeah, he’s been really focused,” Kingsbury said last week, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “The biggest thing that came out of last year I think was that any of the guys that we asked to go in and play, played at a really high level.
“B-Rob’s a guy who has played an incredibly high level. I thought early in the year when he was really healthy, he was what we expect him to be, and the focus this offseason has been great. He knows what this year means to him and can mean to us when he plays at that level.”
