The Washington Commanders host the Carolina Panthers at Northwest Stadium, formerly known as FedEx Field, on Sunday afternoon for their seventh regular-season game of the 2024 season. One crucial matchup to monitor throughout the game is the Panthers’ 31st-rank run stop win rate defensive line vs. the Commanders’ 5th-ranked run block win rate offensive line (h/t ESPN). The Panthers have struggled to stop the run as they have allowed the 3rd-most rushing yards and the most rushing touchdowns, while the Commanders’ run game has been incredible, as they rank 4th in rushing yards and first in rushing touchdowns.
The Commanders have done this with their leading rusher banged up for the past few weeks.
The Washington Commanders’ starting RB suffered an injury a few weeks ago
Brian Robinson Jr. popped up on Week 5’s injury report with a knee injury. Robinson didn’t participate in practice until Friday as a limited participant of that week, and the Commanders listed him as questionable. He suited up for Week 5 but played sparingly, as he only played 23 of 67 offensive snaps in their victory over the Cleveland Browns. He had 18 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns.
Robinson did not participate in Week 6’s practice, and they listed him as questionable. The team ruled him out for Week 6. The rushing attack couldn’t effectively run the ball against the Baltimore Ravens, rushing for the lowest rushing total on the season with 52 yards.
The expectation is for him to play
Brian Robinson Jr. participated in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s practice as a limited participant and was listed as questionable. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Washington Commanders expect Robinson to play against the Carolina Panthers. Schefter didn’t elaborate on his role for tonight’s game.
Commanders RB Brian Robinson, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee injury, is expected to play vs. the Panthers, per source.
