The Washington Commanders made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game this season. At the beginning of the year, no one expected the team to have that kind of success.
Behind the stellar rookie season from quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders flourished. Now, the franchise will be looking to put together a big offseason and try to take another step in 2025 into the Super Bowl.
With a star quarterback now on the roster, Washington will have a much better sales pitch to give. They have proven that they can win at a high level. A high profile free agent or two might have interest in coming in and trying to be the pieces that push the Commanders over the top.
All of that being said, the Washington Commanders have been linked to a potential blockbuster move in free agency.
Washington Commanders Linked to Potential Blockbuster 2025 Free Agency Move
Pro Football Focus recently took a look at potential destinations for some of the top quarterbacks and wide receivers in free agency. When it came to Tee Higgins, the Commanders were named a possible fit.
“Washington profiles as perhaps the most alluring team for Higgins, possessing the money to facilitate a hefty deal, with the third-most cap space, per OverTheCap, and the on-field success to draw the attention of PFF’s top-ranked free agent. Paired with Terry McLaurin, Higgins would provide Jayden Daniels with a receiving corps for the rest of the NFC to fear.”
Higgins could very well be the piece that takes the Washington offense to the next level. Alongside Terry McLaurin, the Commanders would have arguably the best wide receiver duo in football.
What exactly would the Washington Commanders be adding in Higgins?
Throughout the 2024 NFL season with the Cincinnati Bengals, the 26-year-old wideout caught 73 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 12 games. He has legitimate No. 1 talent.
Having two top-tier wide receivers would make Daniels’ job even easier. Higgins and McLaurin would wreak havoc on opposing defenses.
It will be interesting to see what ends up happening this offseason. The Commanders may not end up having interest in Higgins, but if they do they would be an intriguing landing spot for him.
