The Washington Commanders extend two plays contracts
The Washington Commanders announced they extended two players for the 2023 season on Friday afternoon. The Commanders are getting a few deals out of the way in a critical offseason for the Commanders. The Commanders have big questions to deal with this offseason, including what they will do with one of their top defensive linemen, Daron Payne.
It’s thought the Commanders will use the franchise tag on Payne this offseason, as they must figure out their long-term plan with several elite players on the defensive line unit. Before the Commanders use their cap space on that project, the team took care of a few depth positions for next season.
According to a statement by the Commanders, the team extended linebacker David Mayo and running back Jonathan Williams. Both players are signing a one-year contract extension.
