In their opening two games, the Minnesota Vikings have beaten the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.  It has been a great season for Minnesota football on both sides of the ball, with Bryan Flores’ defense flying around and Sam Darnold flourishing in Kevin O’Connell’s offense.

However, the injuries just don’t seem to stop for this team.

According to the Vikings’ official website:

The Vikings on Wednesday signed running back Myles Gaskin to their 53-man roster and placed tight end Nick Muse on Injured Reserve.

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell said Muse was placed on short-term IR, leaving open the possibility of returning him this season after a minimum of four weeks.

“Want to just highlight Nick Muse, early on in the football game, he did have a small fracture in his hand and he will … he could play, but it would require him to wear a big old cast on his hand and have that thing wrapped, so Nick’s value as a blocker and a pass catcher for us on game day, we thought it best to allow that thing to heal over the next three to four weeks,” O’Connell said during his media availability Wednesday.

“He was placed on short-term IR, which will allow us to get Myles Gaskin as our third [running] back on the roster. And then I’ll keep you guys posted about what the plan of attack is at the tight end position as the week goes on.”

There are a number of injuries on the Minnesota Vikings’ injury report heading into this week’s game against the Houston Texans:

    • WR Jordan Addison (ankle): Did not practice
    • RT Brian O’Neill (elbow): Did not practice
    • OLB Dallas Turner (knee): Did not practice
    • C Garrett Bradbury (knee): Limited
    • WR Justin Jefferson (quad): Limited
    • RB Aaron Jones (hip): Limited
    • ILB Ivan Pace Jr. (quad): Limited
    • OLB Andrew Van Ginkel (foot): Limited
    • RG Ed Ingram (tricep): Full
    • WR Jalen Nailor (ankle): Full
