Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will forever be synonymous. The two spent two decades together and had an immeasurable amount of success. Since Brady left New England, the franchise hasn’t been the same. That has been more true than ever this year as the Patriots have gotten off to a horrendous 2-8 start.
Tom Brady let his feelings be known about the present and future of the Patriots organiztion.
Tom Brady Make Gives His Honest Opinion About The Current State Of The New England Patriots
In what could be Bill Belichick’s final season as head coach of the New England Patriots, Tom Brady suggested the team is missing one important element:
“You’ve got to change your strategy, different weeks there’s different challenges, and I think the Patriots, they’re just having a tough stretch, just not playing with the kind of confidence that you’ve always seen,” Brady said during Monday’s edition of his “Let’s Go!” SiriusXM show and podcast, per Ethan Fuller of the Boston Globe.
“Obviously coach Belichick, I don’t think he’s coaching any different now than the way he coached when we were undefeated. There’s a lot of things that need to go right in order to win and succeed.”
“The more I sit back and watch — everyone wants to celebrate when you win as an organization; everyone’s responsible,” Brady continued. “And the same’s true, everyone’s responsible when you lose, too.
Everyone can’t be on the bus when you win and be off the bus when you lose and [say], ‘Let’s point the finger at one person.’ When you look at losing, the organization loses, the fan base loses; everyone’s in it together.”
There has been little doubt over the past week that at least some within the Patriots’ organization (and perhaps inside the locker room) believe quarterback Mac Jones is to blame for the team’s poor results. According to ESPN stats, the Patriots entered their bye week ranked 26th in the NFL with 294.5 offensive yards per game and 31st with 14.1 points per game.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Belichick did not address whether Jones would remain the starter against the New York Giants.
