The Cleveland Browns drafted defensive tackle Mason Graham fifth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Michigan Wolverines. Cleveland originally had the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they decided to trade down with the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Travis Hunter.

Some Browns fans wished that they kept the pick and drafted Hunter instead of trading down with Jacksonville. However, Cleveland decided to bulk up on the defensive line with drafting Graham to pair him up with elite defensive end Myles Garrett. Graham signed his rookie contract on Tuesday.

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham (94) works with defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire during NFL rookie minicamp at the Cleveland Browns training facility on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Berea, Ohio.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday on his Twitter page,

“Browns and their first-round pick Mason Graham reached agreement today on his four-year, fully-guaranteed $40,874,191 deal, per his agents Ryan Matha and Ryan Tollner of

    .”

It is going to be interesting to see what his contract is going to look like if he were to get a second deal with the team in a few years from now. Graham has a chance to be productive in the NFL. A lot of people had him going in the Top 5 to Top 10 in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, some fans think that the Browns rookie defensive tackle is not going to live up to standards in the NFL.

Graham will end up the biggest bust of the draft.

That second contract is going to be ridiculous in 4 years!!

    — Sharp (@sharpcutco) May 27, 2025

Has there ever been a first round pick that wasn’t signed? Also, it’s the browns so no one cares.

All that just to lose 14 out of 17 games

That D-line is going to be sick

    — SpinMountain (@sp27331) May 27, 2025

Graham has a chance to be in the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation in his first season in the NFL. If the Browns are going to show massive improvements, the offense will need to better than what it was during the 2024 NFL season and that’s why they only had a 3-14 record. However, if Hunter has a big year and Graham does not have a big 2025 season, then NFL fans are going to get on the Browns once again for making another mistake as an organization also.
