The Texas Longhorns are busy preparing for their College Football Playoff matchup with the Washington Huskies. However, they are also having to focus on the transfer portal and making sure they stay competitive for next year and beyond. They got a massive commitment from former Houston wide receiver Matthew Golden on Saturday.

Texas Longhorns Land WR Matthew Golden From Transfer Portal
Golden was one of the top wide receivers in the portal. He apparently likes what he is seeing from Texas and their wide receivers. In two years with the Cougars he has 76 receptions for 988 yards and 13 touchdowns. Being close to home was a big part of his decision. “Being close to home,” Golden said. “Just the way they position their playmakers to change the game. Overall, the University and the amount of energy the Texas fans bring.” This is a massive commitment for the program and should help their offense stay on top of the college football world in 2024.
Texas Is Back
College football is more fun when the Longhorns are good. With their move to the SEC on the horizon, there will be no shortage of high-profile matchups for the program. Now that they have a top-ten team, those matchups become a lot more interesting. However, this year isn’t done. They are two games away from being on top of the college football world. It would most likely do wonders for their recruiting if they could add a national championship to their trophy room.
The Texas Longhorns have to be happy about their latest commitment from the transfer portal. While they have lost some players, they still have a very talent-rich roster that will compete for years to come.
