Isaiah Bond transferred to the Texas Longhorns for the 2024 season to contend for a national championship, be their number-one receiver, and boost his draft stock in hopes of becoming a top prospect and a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out in Bond’s lone season in Austin, as he battled a high-ankle sprain during the last half of the season, missing two games, and he wasn’t as productive upon returning, ultimately falling out of favor in the offense. Pre-injury, he caught 20 passes for 364 yards and five touchdowns in his first five games and dipped to 14 receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns in his last nine games, finishing the 2024 campaign with 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns.
Texas Longhorns receiver reveals his plans for 2025
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Isaiah Bond will forego his final year of college eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. As Thamel points out, Mel Kiper Jr. lists the speedy receiver as the sixth-best wide receiver prospect in the draft. He has a chance to redeem himself during the NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Day this offseason.

Since he declared for the upcoming draft rather than stick around for another season, many Longhorns fans criticized Bond for his decision to forego his final year of college eligibility. Since Matthew Golden and Silas Bolden already declared for the draft, fans wanted their speedy receiver to play one more season to provide a veteran presence and assist with Arch Manning’s development. Finally, many fans questioned his draft stock and don’t believe he’s a top-six receiver.

He definitely could’ve used an extra year. Mind was made up before the season began though, so not surprised. Best of luck to him!

Definitely should have stayed another year.
Needs a ton of work to improve his release, blocking, play strength, route running and most importantly—hands 🙌
The opposite of a polished prospect imo
Great speed but not even close to pro ready

Speed doesn’t matter if you can’t catch. Ask all those chargers fans.

Matthew Golden is everything I thought Isaiah Bond would be. Feel like he could really benefit from another year but wish him the best!
