The Texas Longhorns looked like they were in cruise control all game long against the Arizona State Sun Devils when they had a 24-8 lead in the fourth quarter. Arizona State rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24 and force overtime.
When Texas trailed Arizona State 31-24 in overtime on a fourth-down and 13 play, Quinn Ewers threw a 28-yard touchdown strike to Matthew Golden to send the game into a second overtime. Gunnar Helm caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Quinn Ewers in the second overtime to up 37-31 and then Matthew Golden caught a 2-point conversion to go up 39-31 and that was the final score of the game.
Texas Longhorns Fans React To Thrilling Double Overtime Win Against the Arizona State Sun Devils
The Longhorns sealed the game on an interception in the second overtime against the Sun Devils. Many Texas fans were relieved that they were able to escape with the win against Arizona State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. A win is a win for Texas and they advance in the college football playoffs.

Quinn Ewers in the game completed 20-of-30 passes for 322 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Some Texas Longhorns fans at one point in this game wanted Quinn Ewers benched for Archie Manning, but Ewers saved the day for Texas.
Face Ohio State Buckeyes Next
The next matchup for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns will be against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl at A T&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The kickoff for that matchup will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN on Friday, January 10.
This is the semifinals for the college football playoffs. The winner of this matchup will head to the College Football Championship Game. Sarkisian and Ryan Day should be an intriguing head coaching matchup. Quinn Ewers will need to be better than Will Howard to advance to the finals.
