The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday they were adding a veteran safety to the roster. The Bills defensive secondary will have a new look in 2024 after losing Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White in March. The move came one day after the Bills added a veteran safety.
The Buffalo Bills signed Kareem Jackson on Tuesday
As previously discussed on GH, the Bills signed Kareem Jackson on Tuesday:
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Buffalo Bills have signed veteran safety Kareem Jackson. Schefter revealed that the contract is expected to be a 1-year deal.
Jackson has had a long career in the NFL. He has played in the league for 14 seasons. About 9.5 years were with the Houston Texans and the other 4.5 seasons were with the Denver Broncos.
The Bills signed Terrell Burgess on Wednesday
The Bills weren’t done adding to the position, and they announced in a statement they released punter Jack Browning in a corresponding move to sign Terrell Burgess. Burgess will join the Bills on a one-year deal:
Burgess, 25, last played 2023 with the Washington Commanders as a rotational player, appearing in 12 games and making one start.
With the Commanders, Burgess racked up 25 tackles and was also a key special teams player. He’ll wear No. 35 with the Bills.
Injuries are racking up in the secondary
The Bills were forced to add extra help in the new secondary after two players suffered injuries early in training camp. Burgess, like Mike Edwards, has Super Bowl-winning experience:
The addition of Burgess comes in the wake of two injuries to the Bills’ secondary during training camp. Veteran Mike Edwards (hamstring) is week-to-week and rookie Cole Bishop left Tuesday’s practice with an injury.
Burgess was a third-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 43 career games, Burgess has recorded 43 tackles and one pass defended. He’s from Oceanside, CA and played collegiately at Utah.
