On the opening drive, Baker Mayfield threw a 2-yard touchdown to Evans in the back of the end zone, putting Evans at a career total of 596 points. This also got the Bucs out of a 22-week drought of not scoring on their first drive. It also solidified Evans as one of three non-kickers in NFL history to lead a franchise in points, others being the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Jerry Rice, and Emmitt Smith.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Mike Evans: A Future Hall of Fame Candidate
Evans was one-on-one with C.J. Gardner-Johnson when he caught the pass from Mayfield, who saw the miss match. The Bucs pulled off the win, 33-16, but everyone was all a buzz with Evans’ new franchise record-setting catch.
Mike Evans and fellow wideout Chris Godwin have always been red-zone threats, but this has elevated Evans into an elite class. Having taken the points lead, Evans shows us why he remains the backbone of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since his signing in 2014. With more games to come, the future Hall of Famer will look to tack on even more accomplishments to his career.
