T.J. Watt, linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is currently in the middle of negotiating a juicy deal for his contract extension with the team. While the numbers that he is asking for have not been made private, Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys remarked that Watt’s price tag is way higher than his.
Just like Watt, Parsons has also been in talks with team owner Jerry Jones for quite some time now, asking for a bigger bag in his contract extension. However, Jones has been keeping Parsons at a length and has not exactly given a positive response about the same. Despite all this, Parsons has been attending training camps and impressing as he usually does, even though many NFL fans and analysts have encouraged him not to.
“According to Parsons, the deal that [TJ] Watt is seeking is more than what he and Jones talked about. And he said he is seen the number. Therefore, his deal is going to go up, which means the #Cowboys are going to be paying more,” Reporter Brandon Loree tweeted through his X account, quoting Micah Parsons’ comments in his interview with Clarence Hill of All City DLLS.

While Micah Parsons has continued to prove his worth in the Dallas Cowboys squad by attending the training camps, his Pittsburgh Steelers counterpart, T.J. Watt has gone a different route. Watt has been visibly absent from the training camps, sending a message to the Pittsburgh franchise about his contract extension.
T.J. Watt Gets Support From Mike Tomlin Amid Contract Tensions
Meanwhile, T.J. Watt seems to be sorely missed by his team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, including head coach, Mike Tomlin. Tomlin spoke to reporters a couple of days back, after Watt was yet again missing from a team training camp. When asked about this, Tomlin remarked that he has done his part in pushing the franchise to make a decision on Watt’s contract extension.

However, despite all his pushing and Watt’s pleas, the Pittsburgh Steelers are yet to come to a conclusion regarding their star linebacker. With Watt’s deal being delayed more and more, rumors of the player being traded, or asking for a trade to other teams, have been going around.

NFL analysts have also discussed the same in their forums, with potential landing spots like the Detroit Lions being examined. Still, Watt does not seem keen on leaving the Steelers and only wants to send a message of his disappointment through his absence in the training camps.
