The Texas Longhorns football program is looking to find itself in the history books in 2025. Texas has made it to the college football playoffs semifinals for the last two years, but they fell short of the ultimate goal.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian is entering his fifth season with the program. Sarkisian has recruited at a high level. Texas will open up the season Week 1 on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Buckeyes Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
College Football Analyst Praises Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Entering 2025 College Football Season

Joel Klatt spoke on his podcast called The Joel Klatt Show about the key week 1 matchup between Texas and Ohio State to start the 2025 college football season. The Buckeyes have been a Priemer college football program for quite some time under head coach Ryan Day.
As for the Longhorns, they were not in a good spot as a program until Sarkisian arrived. He has changed the course of this program over the last five years, and they are in national title contention because of it. Klatt said about Sarkisian,
“[Steve Sarkisian] has brought Texas back to the level they desperately wanted to be at for a decade.”
It is good for Texas that Arch Manning will be the Week 1 starting quarterback for them. Sarkisian will not have to asked different questions in 2025 about the quarterback position like he was during the 2024 season with Manning and Quinn Ewers. The Longhorns will be one of the favorites to win the national title under Sarkisian and they will be in contention for years to come with the way they recruit at a high level.
