With Quinn Ewers turning pro, the keys to the offense of the Texas Longhorns from under center is now in the hands of Arch Manning.
But a bigger responsibility means one sure thing for Manning: much more intense pressure from Texas football fans.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian recently spoke about the increased scrutiny that Manning is about to go through as the regular starting quarterback of the team.

When asked if he talks to Arch Manning about handling fame, Steve Sarkisian jokingly said, “The boos? The boos? Because the boos are going to come here pretty soon, too. I love our fans – they love the backup quarterback, but they hate interceptions. So those are coming.”
Arch Manning should be ready for the immense pressure in Year 3 with Texas football

In the 2024 college football season, Manning’s sophomore year, he passed for 939 yards and nine touchdowns with two interceptions on a 67.8 percent completion rate. He also saw two starts when Ewers dealt with an upper-body injury, showing Texas fans a glimpse of what he’s capable of once he becomes QB1.
In any case, there will always be tremendous pressure waiting for Longhorns quarterbacks, given the relevance of the program and its long history. Texas football fans are also expecting the team to sustain the momentum from the Longhorns’ maiden season in the SEC when it went 13-3 overall and reached the College Football Playoff semifinal round.
