Diontae Johnson has a lawsuit filed against him
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson had a lawsuit filed against him recently. Not a welcome distraction during training camp for the fourth-year veteran.
FlexWork Sports Management LLC, a sports management company, filed a federal lawsuit against Johnson. They allege Johnson violated his contract by missing out at a May youth football camp, per multiple reports.
Ryan Glasspiegel of The New York Post gave a few details from the lawsuit.
Allegedly, Johnson’s contract with FlexWork stipulated that he would pay a $2,250 cancellation fee if he bailed after April 5 and would be responsible for expenses incurred by the company. FlexWork claims it had to issue over $39,000 in refunds and about the same total in credits toward future camps after parents were irate that Johnson did not show up.
FlexWork claimed other expenses incurred by the camp totaled more than $10,000.
“As a result of Johnson’s breach, FlexWork has suffered and continues to suffer damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, costs, disbursements and attorneys’ fees,” the suit said.
Yikes. That’s not a good look for Johnson. Kids like to go to those football camps to see their favorite stars at camp. It makes sense to show up and make some sort of photo appearance. Even if it’s only for a few hours, that way Johnson could market the camp in the future.
Johnson recently signed a contract with the Steelers for $36.71 million.
