Shedeur Sanders has both lovers and haters in the sports world right now, even as he was recently selected by the Cleveland Browns. Kendrick Perkins, former NBA player and current ESPN analyst, recently had nothing but praise for Sanders after the 2025 NFL draft. Perkins tweeted through his X account, calling similarities between Sanders and NBA legend LeBron James.
Sanders was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. Meanwhile, LeBron James was selected as the first overall pick in the very first round of the 2003 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Most rookie star power to walk into Cleveland since LeBron James was drafted!” Kendrick Perkins tweeted through his X account about Shedeur Sanders and LeBron James.

Shedeur Sanders, the youngest son of former NFL player Deion Sanders, split his college football career between the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes. In his senior year with Colorado, quarterback Sanders threw for a total of 4,134 yards, scoring 37 touchdowns while managing ten interceptions for the team.
The Cleveland Browns have shown major interest in Sanders right from the start. The team will look up to Sanders to improve their record in the upcoming NFL season after finishing fourth in the AFC North with only three wins. The Browns exited the tournament after playing their final game against the Baltimore Ravens and losing 35-10.

Shedeur Sanders Thanks God After Being Selected By The Cleveland Browns
Shedeur Sanders had much to thank for after being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. All hope seemed lost for the talented quarterback, stained by numerous criticisms about his attitude and character during the pre-draft process. However, Sanders seemed to have dropped his cloak of arrogance after the draft and even remarked in a recent interview that he ought to have done things differently.
“Another day another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love. Thank you GOD #LEGENDARY” Shedeur Sanders tweeted through his X account.

While the quarterback had to wait all the while for the fifth round to be selected by an NFL team, his Colorado teammate, Travis Hunter, who had a similar college timeline, was selected as the No. 2 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Many sources reported that it was not only Shedeur Sanders’ fault that his stock dropped, but also his father’s reckless personality.
