Shedeur Sanders was recently compared to his father, Deion Sanders, by sportscaster Mark Schlereth. In a recent episode of Fox Sports’ Breakfast Ball, Schlereth, who played in the NFL for 12 seasons, commented on the perception that Sanders is giving off right now.
Sanders was recently selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. While NFL pundits did truly predict Sanders to not come up in the first round of the draft, everyone was surprised to see Sanders called out all the way in the fifth round of the draft.
“I think the big thing for me was from the talent perspective, he’s not a generational talent, like his father was a generational talent. Okay, so if you’re not a generational talent, you better. And I mean, you better ace the other parts, the intangible parts of the process, and by all accounts, and we heard the reports he did not ace the intangible aspect of it, the interview, the talking football, then we get into the arrogance, or the perceived arrogance, or the reported entitlement.” Mark Schlereth said about Shedeur Sanders in Fox Sports’ Breakfast Ball.
“This is the biggest fall in NFL draft history if you put any stock in what we all do leading up to the draft.” @DannyParkins@markschlereth: “From the talent perspective, he’s not a generational talent… so you better ace the intangibles part of the process.” pic.twitter.com/OeKiu0ztNv

Shedeur Sanders is the youngest son of Deion Sanders, who played 14 seasons with the NFL. He also played in the MLB for nine seasons. As of now, Deion Sanders is undertaking coaching with the Colorado Buffaloes where Sanders played college football. Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, is widely known in the sport long after his retirement.

Shedeur Sanders Receives Encouragement From KFC
Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock plummeting was hard to watch, even for haters of the talented quarterback. After receiving confirmation of his selection by the Cleveland Browns, Sanders took to X to thank God for the good news. While Sanders received thousands of responses and congratulations, it was truly shocking to see fast food restaurant chain, KFC, drop their own comment.
“The Colonel was rejected 1,009 times before finally landing our famous original recipe. Sometimes all a Sanders needs is a little time to cook. Congrats Shedeur!” KFC commented on Shedeur Sanders’ post on his X account.

Despite Sanders being selected so late in the draft, the quarterback is still expected to do very well in the upcoming season for the Cleveland Browns. In his senior year with the Colorado Buffaloes, Sanders threw for a total of 4,134 yards, scoring 37 touchdowns, along with ten interceptions.
