Shedeur Sanders is the victim of his father using him to get a job at Colorado. Or at least, this is what analyst and critic Jason Whitlock thinks of the matter.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock got honest about how he thinks the real threat to Shedeu Sanders is his own father, Deion Sanders.
“Deion [Sanders], out of his own desires, never gets his son out of the cocoon,” Whitlock said. “He actually uses his son to some degree to get a job at Jackson State University and then uses his son and Travis Hunter to get a job at Colorado.”
“Deion [would] say, I’m Deion Sanders, I didn’t have to use them, I’m one of the greatest football players of all time. If there’s no Shedeur, he doesn’t get these opportunities,” Whilock added. “If there’s no Travis Hunter, he damn sure doesn’t get the Colorado opportunity.”
Deion Sanders faced criticism after the University of Colorado announced the retirement of his son Shedeur Sanders’ jersey, alongside Travis Hunter’s, during the spring game earlier this month. Many fans and alumni felt the decision was premature, given that Shedeur has yet to play in the NFL, and argued that it overlooked past Colorado legends who have waited decades for similar honors.
Former players like Chad Brown and Tyler Polumbus expressed concerns about the timing, suggesting it diminished the legacy of earlier stars, including members of the 1990 national championship team.

Shedeur Sanders Drafted by Cleveland Browns After Unexpected Slide
Shedeur Sanders was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite being projected as a first-round talent, Sanders experienced a dramatic fall in the draft, leaving many analysts and fans stunned.

The 2025 NFL Draft saw standout names selected in the first round, including Cam Ward as the No. 1 pick to the Tennessee Titans. Travis Hunter, a cornerback and wide receiver from Colorado, was chosen second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, making waves as one of the most hyped prospects in recent history.
His slide was attributed to concerns about his arm strength, mobility, and draft interview performance, with reports suggesting that some teams were unimpressed by his demeanor during pre-draft meetings.

The Browns, who had already drafted quarterback Dillon Gabriel earlier in the draft, now have a crowded quarterback room featuring Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Deshaun Watson. Despite the challenges ahead, Shedeur Sanders remains determined to prove himself, stating that he is “thankful for the opportunity” and ready to compete.
