Shedeur Sanders’ fall in the 2025 NFL Draft will be studied for years to come. When it comes to how he handled pre-draft visits and interviews, to his actual game play. However, now that he is in Cleveland, that’s all behind him. Now he is just focused on becoming a starting quarterback in this league.
As it turns out, Sanders was asked this exact question at practice.

In order to become a leading NFL team in the upcoming season, the Browns have a lot of work ahead. One of the biggest decisions this offseason has been who will play at quarterback in Week 1, with four players genuinely vying for the position:
One of them, a favorite for many, is Shedeur Sanders, though he faces tough competition from veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Shedeur Sanders responds and addresses doubts about being the Browns’ starting QB
The former Colorado Buffaloes player, Shedeur Sanders, visited a youth football camp in Cleveland, where children enthusiastically surrounded him. During this moment, the kids themselves questioned the now-NFL rookie quarterback about his competition in the quarterback room.
One of them asked directly, “Are you going to be the starter, or will it be Joe Flacco?” Another asked, “Who is your starting quarterback?”

Shedeur’s response was clear: “We got preseason first.”
The player, son of Coach Prime, is taking his first experience as a professional football player in stride after being selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He knows he must respect his process and be ready if his opportunity arises.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns continue to evaluate all available options at the QB position for the upcoming season, though reports suggest veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett may have the edge.
In recent weeks, the narrative around Shedeur Sanders has shifted dramatically. Once a player who fell in the NFL Draft due to his “attitude” during the pre-Draft process, he is now being praised by players and coaches for his willingness to compete during this offseason.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait until September to see if he’ll be the starter for the Browns, or perhaps later in the season to see if he gets a chance to ignite the Cleveland offense and take it to another level.
