The Kansas City Chiefs are led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.  Mahomes has been in Kansas City since 2017, and under center since 2018.  He has already cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, and he’s 29-years-old.

Naturally, Mahomes’ family will integrate with the community he plays for.  That community is praying for Mahomes’ mother today.

Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather, Randy Martin, passed away recently:

It was the Chiefs quarterback’s mother, Randi Mahomes, who announced the passing of her father on Feb. 14. It had been a difficult past few months leading up to Martin’s passing, which included having to enter hospice care in January.

On Monday, Randi Mahomes took to Instagram to bear her emotions after a “hard day.” Sunday marked her first Father’s Day without her dad, and she could not help but feel a sense of sadness.

“Yesterday was a tough day… I miss my Dad & parents. Happy Father’s Day, Daddy. I miss you,” she wrote.

Randi Mahomes shared a throwback photo of herself with her dad, along with a heartfelt Father’s Day message.

She also previously revealed how big a fan Martin was of his grandson. In fact, even as his health was deteriorating, “the one thing that he remembers” was when the Super Bowl was going to be.

“I know that it has meant a lot to him,” Randi Mahomes said in a previous interview with People. “And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play.”

“I mean, he must be such a proud grandpa, so proud,” she continued.

Martin passed away on Feb. 12 at the age of 78. This was just a couple of days after Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The result did not go in the Chiefs’ favor, but it appears that Martin got one final opportunity to support his grandson in the big game before he passed.
