The Seattle Seahawks have two starting cornerback spots locked up, with Devon Witherspoon in the slot and Tariq Woolen on the outside, leaving the other outside spot up for grabs.

The Seahawks drafted Nehemiah Pritchett in the 5th round, 136 overall of the 2024 NFL Draft. Pritchett is an outside cornerback who could be in the running for a starting job.
They also drafted another cornerback from Auburn in the 6th round.

The Seahawks drafted D.J. James in the 6th round, 192nd overall of the 2024 NFL Draft. James can play outside or in the slot, but Ourlads has him listed as Witherspoon’s backup.
Since the Seahawks drafted two cornerbacks and have solid depth at the position, one corner is in danger of losing a roster spot. Both sides agreed to rework his contract.
The Seattle Seahawks reworked the contract of their cornerback
The Seahawks placed an original round tender on RFA Michael Jackson this offseason worth over $3 million, non-guaranteed for the 2024 season. Jackson had his contract reworked a month later. Brady Henderson of ESPN has the details.
“CB Mike Jackson agreed to a new deal with the Seahawks. Per a source, he now has a league-minimum base salary of $1.055M (not guaranteed) and got a $167,500 signing bonus. That drops his cap number from $3.116M (the RFA tender) to $1,222,500, creating about $1.89M in cap space.”
He reworked his contract because the RFA tender didn’t have any guaranteed money. Another reason why he reworked his contract is because this gives him a better chance of making the roster.
Michael Jackson will compete for a roster spot
Jackson is not considered a lock to make the 53-man roster and will compete for a spot. He will compete against Pritchett, James, and Artie Burns, assuming Witherspoon, Woolen, and Tre Brown are the starters.
Does he have what it takes to secure a roster spot?
