The Seahawks reworked Jarran Reed’s contract last Monday by converting $530K of his incentives into his base salary. As a result, his cap hit rose from $6.34 million to $6.47 million, and their cap space contracted by $130K.
Since the Seahawks reworked Reed’s contract, they entered Thursday with approximately $1 million in cap space and needed to free up space. They did so by restructuring the contract of their defensive lineman.

According to Over The Cap, the Seahawks restructured Dre’Mont Jones’ contract by converting $9.875 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, adding two void years, and freeing $7.4 million in cap space.
As a result, Jones’ base salary dropped from $11 million to $1.125 million, and his cap hit dropped from $18.176 million to $10.77 million for 2024. His cap hit for 2025 will increase by $2.468 million to $25.645 million. Finally, his contract voids in 2026 and will incur a dead cap hit of $4.9 million.
The Seahawks currently have $8.5 million in cap space.

Jones played 17 games and started 16 in 2023, with 49 tackles, five TFLs, seven hits, 43 pressures, 4.5 sacks, 31 hurries, 15 stops, and a 61.7 PFF grade. He also posted a 65.1 pass rush grade, a 67.7 tackling grade, and a 61.8 run defense grade per PFF.
