The Seattle Seahawks needed to add weapons to their offense for incoming quarterback Sam Darnold since DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are no longer on their roster. On Wednesday, Seattle added speedster Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year contract. With the signing of MVS, the Seahawks now have six wide receivers, but they still need to add another veteran presence to a relatively young receiver position.

Seattle Seahawks land Super Bowl MVP on a 3-year deal

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Seahawks and former Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp have agreed to a big contract. As Rapoport points out, the deal is for three years and is worth $45 million. Kupp returns to his hometown after eight years away.

The Super Bowl MVP has not been able to stay healthy over the past three years

Ever since winning the triple crown and Super Bowl MVP during the 2021-22 season, Cooper Kupp has not been able to stay healthy in each of the last three seasons, missing 16 games with injury. Kupp missed eight games in 2022 with a high ankle sprain that required tightrope surgery, four in 2023 with a hamstring injury, and four in 2024 with a high ankle sprain. He has also lost a step over the past three seasons, especially the last two.
Kupp has caught 201 passes for 2,259 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 67 receptions, 753 receiving yards, and six touchdowns a season. He caught 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns during the 2024 regular season and six receptions for 90 yards in the postseason.
