The Dallas Cowboys needed to address the defensive end/EDGE rusher position after losing DeMarcus Lawrence to the Seattle Seahawks, and Carl Lawson remains unsigned. On Tuesday, Dallas signed Payton Turner, formerly of the New Orleans Saints, to a team-friendly one-year deal. Today, the Cowboys added a familiar face.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cowboys signed Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year, $8 million contract. As Rapoport points out, Fowler spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with Dallas. He recorded 40 tackles, 12 TFLs, 16 QB hits, ten sacks, and three forced fumbles in 34 games.

The Washington Commanders signed Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year, $3.25 million contract in 2024, reuniting with Dan Quinn. Fowler did a great job rushing the passer, recording 12 QB hits, 10.5 sacks, 44 pressures, and a 10.9% pass-rush win rate in 17 games and seven starts. However, he struggled against the run, with 11 stops and a measly 5.6% run-stop win rate, ranking 58th in stops and 64th in run-stop win rate among 127 qualified EDGE rushers who played a minimum of 20% of snaps (h/t) PFF.
