The San Francisco 49ers have been rumored to trade away star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk throughout the offseason leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft. Aiyuk has expressed interest in playing for another squad next season after not agreeing to contract talks with the team, which has led to heavy speculation of him being traded at some point during the draft. However, a shocking new report has come out that the 49ers are now more likely to trade away a different superstar, which could shake up the NFL world.

San Francisco 49ers More Likely To Trade Deebo Samuel

San Francisco is now more likely to trade away star receiver Deebo Samuel rather than Aiyuk following the first round of the NFL Draft according to analyst Michael Silver. He says that based on the conversations he has had with other teams in the league, the 49ers are now more likely to trade Samuel than they are Aiyuk, and tells fans to stay tuned.

This would come as a shock to everyone, as Samuel signed a three-year contract this past February, which seemed to lock him up for the future. However, according to the report, the reasoning behind this is that trading Samuel would leave more room for the 49ers to re-sign Aiyuk if they wanted to.

    NFL Fans React

    NFL Draft
The Honolulu blue is unmistakable as crowds begin to fill in around the main theater on Thursday, April 25, 2024 for the first day of the NFL draft in Detroit.

Many NFL fans reacted to this rumor on social media saying that trading Samuel instead of Aiyuk would be ‘daunting’. Here are some of the reactions:

    Which Receiver Will Be Traded?

Since coming to the league in 2019, Samuel has amounted to 4,122 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 283 receptions. He has been one of the top playmakers on the San Francisco offense along with Aiyuk, who has gone for 3,931 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns on 269 receptions since joining the team in 2020. Some fans and analysts believe that Aiyuk is a better long-term option than Samuel, which has now led to the trade speculation in San Francisco changing course.

Do you think that the 49ers should trade Samuel or Aiyuk?

I love my Niners, but when it comes to trading our star players away, I don’t get it!!! I get that they hope to get another player more suitable to their needs and gaps in the roster, but to trade away 2 of their best players, without which they probably wouldn’t have made it to the Super Bowl, it just doesn’t make sense! They jerked Deebo around so much las year that we almost lost him, and now they’re doing it again. Why is this surely Hall of Famer to be, singled out to be the expendable one, yet again!?
When you have a team that takes you to the Super Bowl, why not, as much as possible, keep it intact? “If it works, don’t fix it”!
      Bad idea Shanahan!
